MVI56-101M PROSOFT Communication module

The MVI56-101M is an in-chassis communication module that plugs directly into a ControlLogix rack, serving as a vital bridge between the ControlLogix processor and IEC 60870-5-101 compliant slave devices. Its primary role is to function as a master communication module for the IEC 60870-5-101 protocol, allowing the ControlLogix system to efficiently interface with and control a wide range of remote terminal units (RTUs), protective relays, circuit breakers, substation communication modules, and other serial communication equipment commonly found in power systems and utility applications.

This module features two independent, configurable serial communication ports (typically supporting RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 via RJ45 connectors). Each port can operate as a master, capable of communicating with up to 32 slave devices. This provides the flexibility to interface with a total of 64 devices across both ports, depending on the network configuration. This high capacity and dual-port design are crucial for managing large-scale remote monitoring and control networks in complex power system automation architectures.
