 It operates on the eddy current principle, allowing it to measure vibration (dynamic movement) and displacement/position (static gap) without physical contact with the shaft. 

A significant advantage of the 3300 XL series is the complete interchangeability of probes, extension cables, and Proximitor® sensors.

Designed for highly accurate measurements, it provides a linear output voltage directly proportional to the distance from a conductive target.

The probe features a durable design with a Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) probe tip and AISI 303 or 304 stainless steel case, making it resilient in harsh industrial environments.

The 3300 XL 8mm system (of which this probe is a part) fully complies with the American Petroleum Institute (API) 670 Standard (4th Edition). 

 It is primarily used for vibration and position measurements on fluid-film bearing machines, as well as for Keyphasor® (once-per-turn event) and speed measurement applications.
